Our Story
Built by Community.
The Village did not start with a strategic plan or a grant. It started with a simple and urgent need: asylum seekers and families arriving in Seattle with nothing, and community members who refused to look away.
Neighbors pooled their time, their vehicles, their storage space, and their resources to get furniture, clothing, and essentials to families who needed them immediately. What grew out of that collective effort became something bigger: a dedicated space where folx can come in and actually shop, with dignity, at no cost.
Not a charity handout. Not an intake process. A store. Where you book a time, walk in, pick what you need, and walk out. Because dignity is not a luxury.
Where to Find Us
Two Locations. Both by Appointment.
Two different spaces, held by different hands, with the same promise. Here is the honest reason both are appointment only: nobody at either one is paid, and there are not enough volunteers to keep doors open on a set schedule. So they open for you instead. Tell us what you need and we will get someone there to meet you. If you want these doors open more often, come volunteer with us. That is genuinely what it takes.
Seattle
The Village is a community initiative, independently organized. GSNS supports it and helps hold the infrastructure, but we do not run it or direct it. Clothing, furniture, household goods, baby items, and hygiene supplies, all free and all yours to browse at your own pace.

This one is ours. It started as the GSNS storage unit, where donations land before they head back out to neighbors. Rather than let it sit as a stockroom, we opened it up. Book a time, come in, and shop it like a store. Serving North Seattle and Shoreline.

Neighbors Donate
Every item in the Village comes from someone in this community. Clothing, furniture, household goods, baby items, hygiene supplies. Nothing is bought. Nothing is corporate. It is neighbors giving what they can to neighbors who need it.
Volunteers Sort It
Volunteers check, fold, size, and shelve every donation by hand. That is what turns a pile of bags into a real store you can actually browse. Unpaid, unglamorous, and the whole reason this works.
You Book a Time
Reach out and tell us which location works for you. We will set you up with an appointment. No proof of income. No eligibility check. No referral needed.
You Shop. For Free.
You arrive, you browse, you take what you need, and you leave. The store is yours for your appointment. Everyone is welcome, every time.
Nothing Sits. Nothing Gets Wasted.
Goods are meant to move, not to pile up. When something has been on our shelves a long while without finding a home, it keeps going: passed along to another mutual aid group, repurposed into something useful, or recycled responsibly if it is truly at the end of its life. The Village is a place resources pass through on the way to someone who needs them, not a warehouse.

We are always building. Here is what we need most right now.
Donate Items
Everything on our shelves got there this way. Clothing, furniture, household essentials, baby items, hygiene products. If it is clean and usable, we want it, and if it does not move here we will make sure it reaches someone who can use it. Reach out to schedule a drop off or a pickup at either location.
Volunteer Your Time
This is our biggest need. Volunteers are what let us open the doors, so more people means more hours and shorter waits for neighbors. Sorting, setting up, hosting appointments, hauling furniture. No experience needed, just show up.
Donate Funds
Money helps us cover storage, transportation, supplies, and buildout costs for both locations. Every dollar goes directly to keeping the Village running and growing.
Spread the Word
Know a family in need? Know someone with items to donate? Tell them about us and let them know how to book a visit. Word of mouth is how mutual aid grows.

The Village is a GSNS supported initiative. GSNS is a registered 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. Donations are not tax-deductible. GSNS supports and uplifts community-led efforts. Projects listed on this site that are not directly operated by GSNS are independently organized.
